Citizen Lab Director Ron Deibert was interviewed by CTV News about the newly released Black Code documentary, which has been screening at the Human Rights Watch Film Festival, and is in theatres April 14th. The ‘Black Code’ documentary film is based on Ron Deibert’s book of the same name, and was directed by Nicholas de Pencier, who also participated in the CTV interview.

The interview segment, titled “How the Internet can be used to monitor citizens,” sees Deibert and de Pencier discusses the ways in which surveillance technologies are used by governments to target dissidents and human rights activists. Director Nicholas de Pencier also describes the process of starting the film, and the research phase of producing the documentary.
